SNOOPY BASEBALL

I LIVE(D)FOR THIS

Being a Yankees fan living in Colorado does not give me a lot of opportunities to watch the Yankees play here or even watch a winning team play here for that matter but in the year 2007 that would all change. Not only did I get to see the Yankees play during a interleague series but my hometown team the Colorado Rockies would go to the World Series for the first time and I would have lived for this, literally.

On October 15, 2007 the Colorado Rockies were set to play the Arizona Diamondbacks and I was set to watch the game on tv  when I had my first serious car accident that day. It happened so fast but yet in slow motion as I knew something was coming but could not manage to stop it and then bam… it hit. I had slammed my head into a air bag at the time thinking it was the window feeling my brain actually move inside my head as if a bat hit a ball fighting for a home run and then I screamed. Left with horrible head pain and several lacerations on me it became the most horrifying moment in my life leaving me with millions of thoughts in just a single moment. Am I going to die? Am I going to fade out anytime now?  I am going to miss the Rockies play now. Are they going to go to the World Series? Just before the accident I was in a conversation about my hometown team and if we should go knowing that it could cost us. That night ended with the Rockies clinching the pennant and on their way as we were on our way to the hospital.

But it didn’t cost us, not in the most important sense as we were released from the hospital that night having sneeked a peek at the game that was playing on a tv down the hall. After that worrying about the cost of a ticket seemed silly as the ultimate cost had not been paid. So off we went to the first World Series for us and for Colorado and it was exciting and I lived for it.

ANOTHER CONFESSION?

In the aftermath of starting Jane Heller’s book “Confessions of a She-Fan” (which I love) about the New York Yankees I found another “Confession” book. This time by Alyssa Milano titled “Confessions of a Baseball Fanatic”. There has been alot of confessing going on lately? Joe Torre even “confessed” recently with another person speaking for him which I do not count as a confession. It’s more like passing notes in school to your friends about a boy you like. Then it gets passed around for people to see and ends up in the hands of the one your talking about. He may like it or he may not. But who cares cause your name is not on it.

Samantha Fox confessed herself in the 80s which is not what were talking about here. Actually she confessed way too much.

And this guy recently confessed. Oh brother!

Oh and this confession of course which actually should be one of my confessions.

I wonder who’s going to “confess” next? I can’t wait. But I’m not sure if there are enough priests to cover all the confessions.

CONFESSIONS FROM A FAN OF “SHE-FAN”

Forgive me whoever for I have sort of sinned. I was more entertained with “Confessions of a She-Fan” than with one of my favorite Yankees Joe Torre and his book “The Yankee Years” or I should say Tom Verducci’s book of stats.

Two pages into “Confessions of a She-Fan” I found it outragiously funny and moving at a perfect flow. Something I wish Joe Torre wrote HIMSELF. Except maybe that part about putting ballplayers pictures on the wall and wanting to marry them or dressing up scantily clad to meet Yankee players. Sorry Mr.Torre but a tight low cut top and mini skirt would not suit you. I laughed so hard reading this book I got a stomach ache and had to stop. I’m not done with this book by a long shot but you can be assured that every page will be read (unlike others that have already been mentioned).

PS: After reading the part about the Yankee blog and people calling themselves “Yankee Princess” etc and being dismissed I might have to rethink my blog name. lol. But then I might have to give up my crafty picture that I made.

WHATS THE BOOK DEAL?

Halfway into Joe Torre’s book “The Yankee Years” I feel utterly deceived from all the hype about his book and the comments that were released to the media. This book is more stats and technical details on certain games that I already know than it is gossip, heartfelt experiences and after hours antics as the sleeve of the book mentions. Not only did the media make a big deal but I am currently not sure who actually wrote this book entirely.. was it Joe or Tom Verducci alone? It’s sporadic in its tale jumping from one subject to another than back to the original with no consistancy in it’s chapters. I wish Joe Torre wrote this on his own. If your going to pass on a book to the media as a gossipy type or “your experience”book then make sure it is that. I found this book to be a bit technical but there were several parts I found to be interesting and felt like it came from Joe Torre directly.  I can say this after reading Paul Oneill’s book and noticing a difference.

STERODS

As you all know Alex Rodriguez aka A-Rod aka Sterod has confessed to using well known performing enhancing drugs. Do they not know what happens to people who use these types of drugs? The next thing he knows he’s in jail for committing a henious crime because he could not control his anger. These guys do not live in the “real world” where ordinary people like myself could care less about impressing our bosses to the point of taking drugs. Let me tell you the last boss I had needed some drugs herself. But that is besides the point.

Once a cheater always a cheater as I always say. Certain members of his team even defended him like Tino. Tino’s answer to that issue awhile back was that his body never changed and I thought ok that is true, but guess that answer did not matter. I for one think he needs to take a hike somewhere. Him and his ego both can go date madonna.

BASEBALL FILES

Baseball fans are known to watch movies involving their favorite pastime and most likely the most popular movies out there but what about tv shows and old movies that don’t make the team? Here is a few that have been missed……

 The X-Files

One of the most popular tv shows ever on television aired this episode “The Unnatural” about a a baseball player from the 1940s who is really an alien.

Now I know your thinking “hey this looks like………(Enter name here)” but don’t be fooled this guy is all class.

Ghost Whisperer

This episode of Ghost Whisperer “Giving up the Ghost” follows a baseball player haunted by a former teammate.

STAR “MANGLED” BANNER

Just a little something to wake you up! I’m sorry but this is too funny. Not much else I can discuss on this matter. I really just don’t care. Ok the spitting, etc was a bit too much but other than that, FUNNY.  Keep the nasty remarks to me to yourself please. lol

L.A. STORRE

Watching Larry King the other night with Joe Torre plugging his new book made me think about players and peoples behaviors towards others. Torre mentions his relationship with Boomer and the how Boomer came out to Torre saying such things as calling Torre a punk and telling him after being invited to a charty that “i’ll go but I don’t like you”. What happened to respecting your elders not to mention respecting your manager/boss or others for that matter? I’m going to have to take Torre’s side on this one. I just can’t see him being the person to be disrespectful to. Not to mention the attitude from the general public that most likely does not have his book yet and they are making judgements already just because of bits and pieces the media is throwing to the dogs.

But maybe I am wrong. Maybe he has gotten “L.A.” on everyone and his head has gotten bigger.

But after seeing this I just can’t see it.

We’ll never know.
